Beginner!

Last fall I purchased Waddles, a Little Guy T@g Trailer.   I have never pulled a trailer before, I've always been a tent camper.   Since she came into my life, save the 50 mile journey from her old home to mine, she has only seen the inside of my garage.   With over a foot of snow on the ground, it will be just a while longer before we can take our first adventure together.   In the mean time I am becoming familiar with her, doing a little customization to make her comfy and functional.   I have joined a number of Facebook groups focused on tiny trailer travels, and am learning so much.   I'm inspired by Mandy Lea, who lives full time in her T@g and supports herself as a photographer.

My intention is to take at least 2 short shakedown trips with Waddles, fairly close to home.  And then in late May head out on an adventure with Illinois, where my sister lives, as my destination.  Round trip, maybe 5000 miles.   The thought is a bit scary, traveling alone, with equipment that I am not intimately familiar with yet, a long way from home.  On the other hand it is exhilarating to think about the adventure.   I want to focus on going slowly, spending time in each place I camp, to hike, bird, draw and photograph.  I also know that Waddles will draw attention, so I will likely meet lots of people, something I, as an introvert, tend to avoid when traveling!

I'm just in the early planning stages of this trip.  And I need to spend a lot of time practicing backing a trailer!

Dreaming of spring!
